Afternoon along the Calligraphy Greenway — a 2km linear park connecting the National Theater to the Taichung Museum of Fine Arts. Free, open 24 hours. Packed with public art, craft markets on weekends, and good bookstores (Truffe Books is the local favorite). Most travelers don't mention that the Greenway's northern end has the best third-wave cafe cluster in Taichung — 4 specialty roasters within a 200m radius.

Late afternoon to Gaomei Wetlands (高美濕地) — Taiwan's most-photographed sunset location since 2023. Bus 309 or 310 from central Taichung (~1 hour, 60 TWD / $1.90), or rideshare (450-600 TWD / $14-19). Getting Around

Best Time to Visit

October-December for cool weather and clear Gaomei sunsets. March-April is second-best but sudden rain can blow out the sunset. Avoid typhoon season (July-September) if Gaomei Wetlands is a must-do — wetlands access is frequently closed during storm warnings.
